Community Meeting Announced for July 22
Only six short months ago, a crowd of 150+ people crammed into Studio B in downtown Greensboro to learn about the launching of a new organization called Sustainable Greensboro. On Wednesday, July 22, the community is once again invited to join the founder, Brian Higgins, and the new board of Sustainable Greensboro to find out how to get involved and to get an update on the evolution of this new group. The meeting will be held in the Weaver Room at the Proximity Hotel {address} starting at 5:30pm. The meeting will be over by 7:00pm with time for socializing afterward. The Proximity will be providing a cash bar for the event.
The goals of this new organization are important and the time to start taking action to meet these goals is now. We all have a role to play in pushing Greensboro, its leaders, its institutions, businesses, residents, and ourselves towards sustainability. Together we can accomplish much and we are eager and excited to get down to work. Come help shape the future of our organization, the future of your neighborhood, and the future of Greensboro.
We will be unveiling the results of our initial strategic planning session, sharing our short-term priorities, and outlining ways in which you can help. This meeting will also be your first opportunity to become a member of Sustainable Greensboro so that you can help support our work.
We hope you will join us on Wednesday, July 22nd at 5:30 pm.

An estimated 135 to 150 people turned out last night at Studio B at the initial meeting of Sustainable Greensboro. I'm excited about the turnout, enthusiasm, passion, and many offers of help and assistance. My goal is to update this website with a synopsis of the meeting by Friday of this week. We do have a video of the entire meeting, but the audio is a little low, so I'm going to see if there is a means of increasing the volume so that those that weren't there can listen to the meeting. (Anyone know how to do this? ProTools?)
I do plan to try and increase and improve the online presence of Sustainable Greensboro as soon as possible - so stay tuned for a Facebook group and, perhaps, a LinkedIn group as well. For those of you who expressed an interest in the Board of Directors, I will be contacting you individually in hopes of setting up meetings with you over the next two weeks. Thank you for your interest!
Also, a special thank you to all of you who tossed money in the bucket. There were enough donations to pay for the use of that great Studio B space last night. Trust me when I say that it would have been difficult to squeeze you all into the 45-person capacity of my office building's conference room.
I encourage everyone to continue to spread the word and stay tuned for ways to become more directly involved. If you are aware of a group that would be willing to have me as a speaker, please let me know. I'm excited to continue to spread the word of this fledgling organization. Together we WILL contribute and create a more Sustainable Greensboro!
Cheers.
Brian
