Brian Higgins, Founder
Brian Higgins is the founder of Sustainable Greensboro. His "green" resume in Greensboro started with the establishment of Green Drinks Greensboro in June, 2008, but his curiosity and passion for the topic started many years ago. In addition to Sustainable Greensboro, he owns and operates a sustainable landscape planning and design firm - Greenpath Studio (www.greenpathstudio.com coming soon). His professional career has included environmental consulting for the Sacramento-based consulting firm of Jones & Stokes focusing on management and design of stream and wetland restoration projects, stakeholder facilitation, landscape architecture, legislative assistant for the State of Oregon, various positions with Patagonia, Inc., and a whitewater river guide for 12 years in Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho and Ecuador. He also was the owner and producer, along with his wife Jill, of the Four Sheep Concert Series in Seattle, WA and has a past life as an early morning radio broadcaster on KVMR-FM in Nevada City, CA. He previously served on the board of Seattle Urban Nature.
Brian has a Master's Degree in Landscape Design from the Conway School of Landscape Design in Conway, MA and a BA degree in Sociology from Georgetown University in Washington, DC. In addition, he holds a Certificate in Watershed Management from Portland State University. He is currently pursuing certificates in Native Plant Studies from UNC-Chapel Hill and Non-Profit Management from Duke University.
Dianne Ziegler
Dianne Ziegler has more than 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry. She holds a Masters in Business Administration and has worked with companies such as HealthSouth, Inc., Frazier Rehab, and is currently employed with Pfizer, Inc. Her expertise lies in the fields of sales, marketing, and strategy. She recently pursued her passion and became LEED AP Certified. She is in the process of renovating a downtown Greensboro building with her husband that will receive Platinum LEED, which will include their home and a business space for lease.
Meggan Reagan
A New Jersey native, Meggan made the move to North Carolina in 2000 to attend the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she met her husband Mikal. After graduating with a bachelor degree in Communication and a minor in English she transitioned to working as the Marketing Coordinator at Earth Fare, the Healthy Supermarket. There she found her passion for sustainability, but longed to join a group that could really make an impact. Enter Sustainable Greensboro! Meggan joined the board of Sustainable Greensboro last February and it has been full steam ahead ever since. “I enjoy working with Sustainable Greensboro and being around people that have such a passion to enrich our community and bring people together. I have seen a spark ignite in Greensboro and I am thrilled to be part of its cultivation and to work with other organizations towards a common goal.”
Meggan recently made a career change, and joined the UNCG team working in the School of Education as part of the office of Recruitment, Retention, and Professional Development. “It’s exciting to be on campus and to be part of the academic community again. It makes you feel like there are endless possibilities.”
Rendell Richards
Rendy has more than twenty years of broad experience in finance and accounting, contracts and procurement, strategic planning, business development and project management. He holds a Masters in Finance, operates his consulting company CFO Options, LLC, and has diverse industry experience at companies such as CB Richard Ellis, Tyco Electronics, and Hughes Aircraft Company. Rendy has had a life long passion for sustainability issues like environmental stewardship , energy efficiency and profitability.
